Caves and potholes in the Montsec d'Ares geological unit
The western sector of the great Montsec anticline, a limestone wall of the Prepirineu cut through by gorges, potholes and caves.
Part of the Prepirineu major unit, dominated by calcàries (90 %). Its caves are spread across Pallars Jussà, Noguera.
Catalonia has 87 catalogued cavities in the Montsec d'Ares geological unit, including 42 potholes and 45 caves. The longest is Grallera Gran del Corralot (1,977m)
