Location

It is located in the barranc del Queixigar, 30 metres to the left of the thalweg and 10 metres above it, at the base of a 4-metre-high cliff and near the point where the ravine makes a marked bend. This ravine lies between the barranc de Matamala to the W and the barranc de Comarques to the E, being a tributary of the barranc de l'Obaga Gran. The first explorers indicate that it is 45 minutes to the W of Alsamora; we do not know whether paths for approaching from this village still exist. Coordinates without much precision.

Description

Morphology

Low (0.40 m) and wide entrance, which gives access to an oval-shaped chamber (9x6 metres); at the back it is closed by a large flowstone and gours, all highly decalcified. At its E end, a descending gallery opens, choked with debris.

Speleothems

The floor of the chamber is covered with concretion, with small cylindrical gours full of pisolites up to 1.5 cm in size.

Hydrology

It is interesting to note the presence of an intermittent watercourse.

History

The first exploration was carried out on 28 March 1970 by members of the ERE of the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya.
