Graller Nº3 de la Pardina

Graller Nº3 de la Pardina

Petita esquerda al Montsec de Viudà (Àger)

Àger • Noguera19m3m

Small fissure at the Montsec de Viudà (Àger), known as los Grallers, with a drop of just over two metres and a perpendicular gallery of about 5 metres.

Characteristics

Location

Small fissure at the Montsec de Viudà (Àger).

By the asphalted track that climbs from Àger towards the coll d'Ares, on reaching the plans de Badià we will take the track on the left in the direction of the font de l'Hospital and the castell de Sant Llorenç (currently in ruins); shortly before reaching it, we find on the left of the track a large metal water tank, and a little further on we find on the left the corral del Mas. We can leave the vehicle at the tank and head towards the SW, in the direction of the barranc de la Pardina; or from the corral follow the camí de Corçà; in both cases we will soon converge on a marked path that crosses the barranc and heads towards the climbing walls on the other side of the barranc. Between the barranc and the climbing walls we will find an area with a chaos of enormous blocks; at the highest part of these, we will see a series of fissures among which we find this cavity, situated a little to the right of the graller nº 1.

Description

Morphology

A drop of just over two metres places us in a dark and somewhat narrow fissure that leads us to a junction where some blocks must be climbed. From this point the gallery continues a few metres and ends, while on the right we find a perpendicular gallery of about 5 metres in length.

Speleothems

In the perpendicular gallery of about 5 metres in length there are remains of flowstone on the walls.

Progression

A drop of just over two metres places us in a dark and somewhat narrow fissure that leads us to a junction where some blocks must be climbed.

Other details

This is a highly fractured area with fissures and large blocks at the head of the barranc de la Pardina, at the confluence with the barranc de Pedroneta.

In recent years, several climbing routes have been opened on the crag that closes the barranc on the hydrographic left bank.

In some hiking guides they are erroneously called els Amorriadors or Amorridors. To be correct, this toponym should be placed outside the barranc, about a hundred metres further to the NE, where there is an area of large trees and water.

Toponymy:

Amorriador: Place where livestock rest at midday.

Amorriar: To gather sheep at midday in a shaded place.

(diccionari de la llengua catalana), (Viccionari).

History

Known since ancient times in the area, they are known as los Grallers; GEFOMA located them during the 70s of the last century, but did not manage to explore them.
