Characteristics

Location

The cavity is located in the municipality of Sant Esteve de la Sarga. From the coll d'Ares we will head along the paved track to the astronomical observatory, we will continue along the track that passes right by the pic de Corona, where we find a large cairn beside the track; from here we will descend through the syncline in a northerly direction and in about 120 metres we will find the cavity, quite concealed by the vegetation despite its dimensions.

Description

Morphology

The cavity has an entrance of 30 X 5 metres, with a N-S orientation, the south side being 10 metres higher than the north side. The shaft, 69 metres deep, narrows from -40 metres onwards, then immediately widens again to more than the upper part. The plan has a length of 80 metres and develops along the fracture, the floor being occupied by blocks and debris forming a ramp in a southerly direction, at the end of which we find the point of maximum depth.

History

Explored by the GES del CMB in 1963. The various surveys that are known give it different depths: SAS-CGB (-111); SIS-CET (-110); depending on the point of the entrance from which the measurement was taken. In the case of the ECG survey the measurement is taken from the lower lip of the entrance mouth, as established by speleological canons.
