Characteristics

Location

In the municipality of Sant Esteve de la Sarga. From the coll d'Ares we will head along the paved track to the astronomical observatory, then continue along the track that passes right by the pic de Corona until reaching the barranc de Matamala, which is where the track practically ends.

The head of the barranc de Matamala forms a “Y”: one branch is parallel to the cingle del Montsec, while the other descends perpendicularly. The cavity is located almost at the confluence of the two torrents, but on the right-hand slope of the torrent that descends parallel to the cingle and about 10 metres above its bed.
