Caves and potholes in the Alt Àneu geological unit
A Pyrenean headwater area of the Pallars Sobirà, with pockets of karstified limestone within the crystalline terrain of the Pirineu Axial.
Part of the Pirineu Axial major unit, dominated by calcàries (100 %). Its caves are spread across Pallars Sobirà.
Catalonia has 56 catalogued cavities in the Alt Àneu geological unit, including 42 potholes and 14 caves. The longest is Avenc Gran d'Aulà (1,530m) and the deepest is Cigalera de l'Obaga de Baleran (320m).
