Characteristics

Location

Zone D of Aulà is bounded by: to the N the border; to the E the limit of zone C; to the W by a line that follows the ridge beginning at elevation 2425 (west of coll de la Tindarella), continues along the entire crest of serrat de Clavera and ends at elevation 2170; to the S it is the continuation westward of zone C.

The D.1 pit is located at the top of the easternmost peak where coll de la Tindarella begins (elevation 2505). Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

Large entrance partially blocked by a plug of snow (summer 1975). The shaft descended to -25 metres depth where a large accumulation of snow blocked it. Only through a narrow vertical passage between the rock and the snow was it possible to descend to -50.

History

The first exploration was carried out in July 1975 during the campaign of the S.S.P. and the A.S.M.P., who report finding the entrance marked “G.S.M. 20-8-70”. It seems more than likely that this cavity is Es.3 according to the G.S.Massat, who report having probed it in 1970 and who perhaps returned in 1973.
