Tossa de Mar, a municipality in the comarca of la Selva, has 32 caves, all catalogued as Cova and developed in granite. Together they total 1064 m of passage and reach a maximum depth of 9 m.
The longest cave is Cova Des Bergantí, with 224 m of passage, known since time immemorial and fully explored in the summer of 1979. It is followed by Cova de Punta Pola, at 134 m, also known as Cova d'en Cateura or Cova de la Punta Pola; Cova de Sa Pedra Negra, at 86 m, with its main entrance visible just past Cap des Pentiner; Cova Baixa, at 53 m, with an entrance 7.20 m high and 7 m wide, a flooded chamber and sumping galleries; and Cova Martines, at 47 m, with an entrance 4 m wide, an interior beach and a final crawl that can become blocked by sand.
Among the deepest caves are Cova Petita de Punta Pola, at 9 m, which has an 8 m gallery, a 6 m drop and a final chamber 10 m high; Cova Nº2 d'en Boada, at 7 m, one of the four caves in the group between the Sot d'en Boada and the Punta del Palomar; Cova de Sa Pedra Negra, at 6 m; Cova Iii de Fotedera, at 5 m, explored in August 1980 by members of the SIS – CE Terrassa; and Cova de la Punta de N'aromir, at 4 m, in the N sector of the cala de la Punta de n'Aromir, in the Salionç sector.
