Description

Morphology

It consists of a single gallery that crosses the islet of des Palomar from N to S. The N mouth is 3 metres wide by 5 high, with 4 metres of water depth, dimensions it maintains until at the end it narrows and the other mouth appears, elevated, in the form of a slanted fissure 10 metres long by 1 wide.

The entire islet of des Palomar is crossed throughout by a series of joints running N-S. Marine erosion has worn away the weakest point, which is where there is the greatest concentration of fissures, forming this cavity.

History

Known since time immemorial by the fishermen of the area.

Cited in old catalogues: Puig y Larraz (1896); Font (1897); Faura (1909), which already mention much earlier sources.

The full exploration and survey was carried out in the summer of 1981 by members of the SIS – CE Terrassa.
