Forat Encinglerat

Petita cova d'origen tectònic a la Febró.

Febró, La • Baix Camp16m4m

Small cave of tectonic origin in la Febró, located around 2018 and explored and surveyed in the spring of 2022.

Characteristics

Location

Access begins from the cemetery of la Febró, where one can park, and follows the T-704 road in the direction of la Febró for 115 metres. At this point, on the left of the road, on the ground, there is a cement manhole cover and a signpost for the cova de la Vila; this is where the path that climbs the barranc de la Cova del Corral begins. After a distance of six hundred and eighteen metres from the cemetery, we find on the left of the path a turn-off marked with signposts. We will climb the slope along this path until we reach the point where we find the rock wall and the path turns to the left climbing; here we will leave the path and descend to the right following the foot of the cliff. We will soon see the mouth of the cave, situated at about 5 metres of height with respect to the base of the cliff; the access is very easy.

Description

Morphology

A fissure half a metre wide by 2.5 metres high gives access to a passage that at 5 metres becomes quite narrow and one must climb 1.7 metres to reach an upper passage that in a N direction has part of its floor broken open, where the lower passage through which one enters can be seen, but too narrow at this point.

On the S side we find a small chamber from which, at a height of one metre, a small passage of 0.4x0.4 metres and two metres in length emerges, opening to the outside on the cliff wall, above and to the E of the entrance mouth.

History

The cave was located around 2018 by the archaeologists of the IPHES, who passed on to us the information about its location; it was not explored and surveyed until the spring of 2022.
