A 20-metre-deep pit in the barranc de la cova del Corral (la Febró), located by Montse Roca and Juli Serrano (SIE-CEA) in January 2022.

Characteristics

Location

Access begins from the cemetery of la Febró, where you can park, and follows the T-704 road towards la Febró for 115 metres; at this point, on the left of the road, on the ground there is a cement manhole cover and a signpost for the cova de la Vila, where the path that goes up the barranc de la Cova del Corral begins. After a distance of about 700 metres and shortly after leaving a junction with a sign for the cova de la Vila on the left, we will find on the right side of the path a tree with yellow paint; at this point you must go up the left slope along a narrow path that leads to a gully. Going up this we will find the cavity on the left side of the gully, a few metres before reaching the point where there is an installed rope that leads on the right to the cova de la Vila, while if we continue up the gully we will reach the cova d'en Peixet.

Description

Morphology

The 2.2x0.6 metre entrance leads to a descending passage about 2 metres long. On the left side of this we find a narrow 3-metre-deep pit that descends to a lower level. Following the previous passage 6 metres further on we reach a -4.5 metre pit that places us on the same lower floor where the previously mentioned pit places us. The gallery descends steeply until reaching the -20.6 metre level; at this point the gallery rises again on a slope until reaching the -15 metre level where it ends. The total length is 51 metres.

History

An unpublished cavity, it was located by Montse Roca and Juli Serrano (SIE-CEA) in January 2022; on 5 February of the same year they returned to carry out the cataloguing work.
