Small cave in Castellet i la Gornal, located and surveyed in March 2018 by Jordi Navarro and Montse Mañosa (Centre Excursionista Castellar).

Characteristics

Location

Above Km. 5 of the BV-2116 road that links the urban centres of Castellet i la Gornal, and Clariana, we will take the downhill track towards the Font d'Horta and Cal Bladet for about 180m, until reaching the Font d'Horta bridge where we will leave the vehicle and continue on foot along the path that leaves from the other side of the bridge and heads towards the Font d'Horta.

We will go up the Torrent de Font d'Horta for about 740m along the marked path, about 90m after the Font d'Horta which remains on the right of the path and about 25m after the Balma de la Font d'Horta.

The cavity is located on the left of the path at about 15m of elevation difference, at the upper part of a small cliff.

Description

Morphology

A small entrance of 0.6x0.8m high at ground level and on a slope, allows access to a gallery that shortly afterwards divides into 2 conduits and in its left part there is a collapsed area covered with blocks.

The right ascending conduit ends quickly, while the left one continues descending a few more metres until the gallery becomes impenetrable.

Shortly before the impenetrable zone, in the upper right part, there is a continuity in the form of a vault that continues a little further.

History

In March 2018 Jordi Navarro and Montse Mañosa (Centre Excursionista Castellar) located it and made the survey.
