Description

Morphology

Worked rock shelter with about ten metres of passage that seems to take advantage of a previous joint (smoke outlet) and also the mechanical hollowing of the pre-existing sandstone level (the main room). The interior of the refuge is equivalent to a room of about 18 square metres with hand-picked walls. A pile of stones suggests the space where fire was made, coinciding with the smoke-blackened ceiling and the natural opening as a smoke outlet.

Other details

Although the coll de Tanca-Cort Fosca path passed close to the rock shelter, the presence of the refuge could go unnoticed if one did not see the chimney coming out of the rock. In addition to the rock shelter, there was a very worked environment (perhaps too worked, even) with stone and mortar.

History

We know little about this rock shelter that until the 90s of last century served as a refuge. We know that a large green metal door remained closed, and perhaps a note explained that the place should be respected. One day in the late nineties, the rock shelter appeared completely dismantled and the surroundings with a scattering of full rubbish bags. We have news that this dismantling did not occur willingly and that it was very close to a catastrophe occurring in the park.
