Location

Past the coll de Tanca heading towards the balma del Racó Gran de Matarrodona and the font d'Estelles. It is located about twenty metres further north of la Cova G.E.P.E.G., at the same elevation, and about ten metres above the path. If we go past it, we would find la Foradada del Cingle.

Description

Morphology

Cavity about seven metres deep, in the process of disappearing with the retreat of the crag. The ceiling and the floor of the cavity are formed by large blocks of conglomerate detached from the crag.

If we climb the left wall, and scramble up a rocky gully and over a wedged stone that still moves, we reach a small ledge with two openings. The one on the right allows us to enter lying down and position ourselves at the ceiling of the cavity. If we continued climbing this gully we could come across the hole that connects with the upper part of the main entrance opening. The cavity still has another hole that crosses it, but this one we leave for you to find yourselves.

History

The Forat del Cingle seems to be a cavity whose integrity hangs by a thread. It bears a certain resemblance to the Esllavissada del Morral del Llop. The first news we had of it was through Xavi Badiella (SIS), who made a first sketch of it in 1977.

If we were ever to find ourselves in the position of predicting which cavities will disappear first under the effects of the retreat of the crag, we would not hesitate to include these among the first ten.
