Characteristics

Location

To the SW of the hill of the Pujol de Matarrodona.

To reach it, one must set out from the Alzina del Salari (km. 11.2 of the road from Terrassa to Mura), pass through the Graons de Mura until reaching the Coll de Boix. From here and towards the west a path is born heading west towards Puigdoure and Matarrodona; right at the start we find on the left a second path that, winding all around the head of the Sot de Matarrodona, leads us to the Pujol. On the left appears the path that comes from the Coll de Tanca and fons de la Pola (another alternative itinerary).

One must gradually approach the Cort Fosca and, before arriving, turn left (direction S), to go and find a gully very concealed by the vegetation and that descends to the cave.

Description

Morphology

The most remarkable feature of the cavity is undoubtedly the entrance, which reaches 10 metres in height and almost 7 in width. It is a quite impressive entrance portal that leans to the left, and it has a false ceiling since it remains open to the outside and is only almost completely closed by some fitted blocks. Once we pass the first metres, the ceiling loses height and closes completely.

The cavity is divided into two parts by a large rock about 2.5 metres high. Past this point we still have 12 metres of passage left. The ceiling lowers notably (until reaching 4 metres).

Speleothems

We begin to come across the only formations, a few stalactites and a more or less significant presence of anemolites.

History

The only data we have are those provided by members of the SIS – CE Terrassa who located, explored and surveyed it in June 1987.
