Description

Morphology

The entrance, open in the middle of the channel and not easy to access, has features of 2 m in height by 1 m in width, giving way to a single corridor of about 23 m in length, its height varying from a few centimeters to almost 8 m, its maximum width being 1.5 m.

Speleothems

Along its walls some parietal flowstone and other lithogenic forms can be observed.

Hydrology

Ancient spring structured on a main joint of NE-SW direction with different drainage phases as testified by the levels at different heights.

Other details

The floor is occupied by clastic materials and clayey sediments.

History

The cavity was explored for the first time in September 1912 by a team from the Centre Excursionista de Terrassa, led by Frederic Segués. They took advantage of a trip to the avenc del Daví to climb up to the access mouth, where they found a series of bones. For this reason, it is also known as the cova dels Ossos.

But we have a doubt, Faura i Sans in his Recull (1909) relates a Cova dels Ossos, in Sant Llorenç del Munt and indicates that prehistoric remains have been found. There has never been any further news.

Rediscovered and explored by members of the Espeleo Club Sabadell – UES in September 1973, who without knowing the antecedents renamed it Cova Grup, thinking it was an unpublished cavity. Thanks to them, however, we have concrete data and topography of the cavity. It was published under the name Cova Group.
