Small cave with a 10 m passage in Montmell, located above the Marmellar stream, in the la Moixeta residential area.

Location

The cave is located above the Marmellar stream, in the la Moixeta residential area. To reach it, leave the TP-2442 road at km 10.33, between Sant Jaume dels Domenys and el Pla de Manlleu, where a track leads to the residential area. Just before arriving, the track crosses the Marmellar stream, and from here a track branches off to the right. Here the cave can already be seen, on the right bank of the stream and about 10 metres above it. A small path will lead us to the cave.

Description

Morphology

The entrance faces W and is 18 metres wide and 11.5 metres high. The floor plan is rounded in shape and is occupied by large blocks. At the SE end there is a crawlway that ends after 2 metres. At the N end there is a small structure serving as a shelter.

History

Known since time immemorial, although it had remained unpublished speleologically. Visited on 7 April 2017 by members of the Espeleo Club de Gràcia, who carried out the appropriate cataloguing work.
