Location

Taking the path that goes from les Arenes to coll Llarg, following the ridge of l'Illa, you climb a small hill that forms the ridge. On the left side a path branches off that descends towards the Sot del Muronell and widens as it goes down, leading us to a crossing. From this point and to our right, a few metres into the woods, we find the pit, hidden by a dense holm oak grove.

Description

Morphology

The entrance, 2 metres in diameter, gives way to an 11 metre shaft with a pronounced slope that leads to a chamber formed by a spindle. On the E side of the chamber there is another spindle, of smaller dimensions, which joins with two almost parallel galleries, formed by two joints, where the cavity ends.

History

This is one of the pits explored by members of the TALPS group of the Centre Excursionista del Vallès (Sabadell) in the mid 1960s. Few references remained of this exploration, which meant that when in 1978 members of the GES-CMT and the SIS-CET rediscovered it, they believed it was the Avenc dels Peps and published it under that name. It was not until some time later that they realised the confusion (see the record for the Avenc dels Peps).
