Pou Graller

Cavitat de 17 m. de desnivell al municipi d'Abella de la Conca

Abella de la Conca • Pallars Jussà22m17m

A cavity with 17 m of vertical drop in the municipality of Abella de la Conca, with an 8x2 m entrance and a single pit.

Characteristics

Location

Once past km 20 of the road from Isona to Coll de Nargó, we will follow the track on the left in the direction of l'Obaga Negra, and once past it we will again follow the left in the direction of coll de Llívia. From this col, we will follow a path on the left that runs along the ridge of the col to continue on a steep climb in the direction of l'obaga de Plan-de-riba and el Grau de Queralt. Halfway up the climb we find that the path divides; if we leave both paths and continue climbing through the middle of the forest in a SW direction we will reach the upper flats where the entrance of the cavity opens. Another option, though it is a longer detour, is to continue along the path on the left until reaching el Grau de Queralt, where a small trail passes in the direction of el Cap de Carreu and passes very close to the cavity.

Description

Morphology

An 8x2 metre entrance with a single pit, the base of which slopes from south-west to north-east, where the lowest point is found at -17 metres.

History

Long known to the inhabitants of Abella de la Conca, who mentioned it to the members of the SIE-CEA around the year 1964 during their first campaigns in the area. Shortly afterwards, in February 1966, people from the SAS-Club Gimnàstic Barcelonès located it, explored it and named it avenc del Pla de Ribes. The survey gave them 23 metres of depth, perhaps because they counted from the point where the ladder was rigged.
