Forat dels Coms

Avenc de 43 metres de fondària al municipi d'Abella de la Conca.

Abella de la Conca • Pallars Jussà121m43m

A 43-metre-deep pit in the municipality of Abella de la Conca, explored by the EDES of Manresa in the 70s.

Characteristics

Location

Access is from Bóixols via the Obaga Negra and the coll de Llívia, following the track towards Hortoneda. At approximately two kilometres and four hundred metres after passing the Coll de Llívia, the track makes a 180-degree left-hand bend in a flat and quite wooded area. From here we will cross the flat area and head to the right to look for the cliff face; the cavity is about 50 metres from the flat area and a few metres from the cliff face.

Progression

Entrance 6 x 1.5 metres, it begins with a short ramp until we reach the head of a 14-metre pit at the base of which we find a gallery of notable dimensions 11 x 4 metres. At the eastern end we find a ramp that leads us to a new 8-metre pit, at the base of which a gallery in a westerly direction is blocked after 6 metres. Towards the east a ramp full of debris will take us to the bottom of the cavity.

History

It seems that this pit was first explored by members of the EDES of Manresa in the 70s of the last century, but it fell into the most absolute oblivion. Thanks to the information provided by Tunica, who belonged to the Bombers de la Pobla de Segur, it could be located.
