Characteristics

Location

On the road from Isona to Coll de Nargó, once past Bóixols and kilometre 19, we find the mas de la Xosa on the right-hand side of the road; 80 metres further on, on the left-hand side, a track branches off. After about a hundred metres, a path to the left that we will ignore leads to a water reservoir of metal construction. We continue along the track where, after some 200 metres, we find a very closed turn-off to the right; we follow this track as far as the abandoned mas de la Torre. The large mouth of the cave has been visible to us for some time; from the mas, a path climbs among the feixans de la Torre until it is lost among them; once the feixans have been passed, one must climb straight up to the cave. Care must be taken with the padlocks on the track so that the animals do not escape.

Description

Morphology

A large porch of 17.6x21 metres gives way to an ascending gallery, in which a short scramble is required at first. At the end of the slope, where the highest point of the cavity is found, +27 metres, we find on the left a narrower passage that places us in a descending gallery that ends in a drop that can be bypassed on the right, which places us in a chamber where there is a short ascending conduit. In the eastern part of the chamber, where we find a column, the ceiling lowers and we reach a small side chamber that is heavily decorated with formations; almost at the ceiling of this we find a narrow ascending conduit that allows us to advance some 5 metres further.

Speleothems

History

Known forever by the local people and visited by speleologists and archaeologists, curiously we know of no speleological publication that refers to it until the year 2006, when the colleagues of the GE Lleidatà publish it.
