Font intermitent de 16 m. penetrables a Rellinars (Serra de l'Obac)

Rellinars • Vallès Occidental16m9m

Intermittent spring, 16 m penetrable, in Rellinars (Serra de l'Obac), known since time immemorial and explored by GES – CMB in 1959 and by GE Badalona in 1976.

Characteristics

Location

From kilometre 13.750 of the B-122 road from Terrassa to Rellinars, a wide track leaves to the right towards the house of la Boada. After crossing the riera de Rellinars for the first time, at the point where the font de Carlets lies on the left, one reaches a flat area on the right of the track (la Feixa del Gram). Once past this point, continue along the first fork to the right, which leads to the old house of la Calsina. After crossing the riera again, the track climbs and, after about 100 metres, at the start of a straight stretch, there is a fairly wide flat area on the left. From here one must cross the riera de la Saiola and continue for about a hundred metres with a drop of some 15 metres to find the entrance. Right beside it there is an artificial shaft, completely round, about 4 metres deep.

Description

Morphology

The entrance, in the form of a cave, is 1.80 metres high and 1.50 wide. Shortly after entering, a small step leads to a little hole where one descends 2 vertical metres. The dimensions then become larger, especially in height.

Hydrology

The gallery continues downwards until reaching a sump always full of water. The water level fluctuates according to the season and the maximum it has been possible to lower it is a little more than 9 metres.

History

Spring known since time immemorial. We have evidence that GES – CMB visited it in 1959, but it was not until 1976 that members of GE Badalona carried out a dig a few metres from the entrance that allowed them to explore the lower gallery.
