Avenc de les Roquisses

Avenc de les Roquisses

Petit avenc de 7 m. de fondària a la Serra de l'Obac

Rellinars • Vallès Occidental20m7m

Small pit 7 m deep in the Serra de l'Obac, explored in January 1965 by GES – CMB.

Characteristics

Location

Before entering Rellinars, take the track heading towards the font de Carlets and follow it until reaching the torrent de la Saiola, leaving the fork towards the house of la Boada on the left. Continue along the torrent in the direction of the Calsina; when the track makes a right-hand bend, leave it and cross the torrent de la Saiola and, heading N, enter the torrent de les Roquisses. Go up it (quite overgrown) until soon finding, on the left (right-hand slope), some slab graves. A few metres before, it will be necessary to climb this same slope about 25 metres and find the mouth of the pit.

Description

Morphology

The mouth is elongated and measures 1 by 0.5 metres. We first find a small step of 1.5 metres preceded by a pronounced ramp that leads us to a platform from which we can take two directions. To the N continues a very narrow gallery that, after a small step, leads to a very narrow shaft, so far impassable; the gallery continues a few metres further, but very narrow. From the base of the entrance and in a S direction, a descending gallery can be followed, narrow but not as much as the previous one; at its bottom (level – 7) it climbs again a few metres until ending abruptly.

History

Discovered and explored in January 1965 by members of GES – CMB. Recognised for its narrownesses, it is not much visited. On 28 May 1982, members of SIS – CET turned over a narrow passage seen previously and, after removing a large stone and a trunk, were able to access the S gallery and the point of maximum depth of the cavity.
