Foradada de la Canal Foradada

Foradada de la Canal Foradada

Petita foradada descendent a Vilada (Berguedà)

Vilada • Berguedà15m8m

Small descending pothole in Vilada (Berguedà), a cavity that crosses a small cliff.

Characteristics

Location

Above km 160.5 of the C-26 road towards Borredà, there is a turn-off onto a forest track towards the Pont del Climent. We will cross the bridge on foot and in about 40 m take an uphill path that branches off from the track towards the West in the direction of the Serrat del Migdia.

The path runs parallel to the riera de Mergançol for about 750 m until reaching the Torrent Fred, where we will change direction towards the South, going up the Torrent Fred for another 300 m along its right hydrographic bank. At this point the path descends to the stream and changes bank. We will continue going up, now without a path, along the right bank for about 75 m more and at this point we will change bank, taking advantage of an old path that overcomes a pool and a small flooded gorge of the Torrent Fred. In approximately 100 m we will be at the start of the Canal Foradada, which climbs again towards the West. We will climb the gully on its right side, close to the cliff, about 350 m, and reach la Foradada at a collapse close to the North cliff of the Canal Foradada.

Description

Morphology

Descending cavity that crosses a small cliff. The South entrance, funnel-shaped, descends rapidly until it places itself under the cliff in a descending gallery with a low ceiling, around 1.40 m, and a width of about 5 m. After overcoming a small step, the gallery loses slope as well as height.

Immediately afterwards, the cavity emerges again to the outside through a second entrance, wide but with a low ceiling that forces one to pass lying down.

Speleothems

In this area there are some formations, especially at its East end.

History

Faced with the place name Canal Foradada that appears on the maps, members of the Club Esquí Berguedà went in 2015 to Vilada where they confirmed that some people and shepherds of the area knew of a cavity in that spot and went up to visit it (web: engarrista.com).

In February 2016 members of the GE Badalona visited it and carried out the first cataloguing work.

Completely unaware of the previous exploration, in September 2022 members of the Centre Excursionista de Castellar del Vallès became interested in the cavity and visited it again.
