Characteristics

Location

Shortly before the bridge of la Coromina, above km 157 of the C-26 road towards Vilada, we will take the track that leaves to the left towards the Castell de Roset. We will leave behind the buildings of la Coromina and a farm at the foot of the track, to continue climbing along the main track parallel to the Rec de la Font del Sofre until reaching the building of la Masó, where there is the turn-off towards the Castell de Roset and an esplanade where we can leave the vehicle.

Description

Morphology

Wide rock shelter with a pronounced slope in plan. The lower part presents a terrace flattened by means of a wall of blocks that allows a relatively flat and earthy surface. The height of the chamber quickly decreases until reaching the final crawlway at its southern end.

Speleothems

On the floor of the interior of the rock shelter, flowstone predominates.

Progression

From this point we will walk up the Rec de la Font del Sofre for another 250 m until shortly before reaching an impassable step of the stream. At this point we will leave the streambed by the right hydrographic slope, following the cliff with a steep ascending gradient until reaching the rock shelter in about 140 m of distance and at its base. The final crawlway is only passable lying flat and is preceded by another small stone wall acting as an interior parapet.

History

Cavity marked on the map of Editorial Alpina. In June 2022 it was located and visited by Jordi Navarro and Montse Mañosa (Centre Excursionista de Castellar del Vallès) who carried out the cataloguing work.
