Characteristics

Location

On reaching the village of Vilada, coming from Berga along the C-26, at the exit of the village we must take a local road on the left that leads to Sant Romà de la Clusa.

After passing through a street of an unfinished housing development, we continue along a track, heading N, we pass Les Eres de Vilada and reach the farmhouse of Comelles located 3.9 km from Vilada. The track is in relatively good condition. Once at Comelles, we turn off onto a track, on the left, heading SW; this track is advisable only for 4×4 vehicles.

We pass the torrent de la Font del Vidrier, the cantarilla de cal Llebre, the camp gran d'Espinagalls, the Graus de Dalt, continuing until almost reaching the collada de Pasquals. We will have covered approximately 3.4 km. Shortly before the collada dels Pasquals we will find a track on the left in quite poor condition; here we leave the vehicles to continue on foot along the track heading S until it practically ends.

From here the paths become hard to follow and we enter a very dense forest. The cave is difficult to find; it is located about 250 metres from the end of the track; along the way we come across some cairns, but the coordinates are the only possible orientation.

Description

Morphology

The entrance gives access to a very steep gallery that at -6 metres meets a perpendicular and sinuous fissure that descends about 5 metres; here the wall takes on a steep inclination, ending in a floor about 6 metres long that forms an angle of almost 90 degrees. In the middle of this floor a new, very sinuous vertical opens, descending to -26.5 metres. On the NW side the gallery ends in a small pit of a couple of metres, while on the SE side the gallery descends on a slope with a small step down to the level of -32.5 metres.

Along the fissure we find some false floors formed by the accumulation of blocks wedged in the walls. The fissure has an average width of 0.65 m.

History

Located and explored in 1975 by members of the ERS-Centre Excursionista del Solsonès, who only contributed a sketch to the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya (1980) Volume 5. No further news of the cave is had until the beginning of 2025, when Nil Hosta Ferrer located it again.
