Espluga d'en Ponsà Nº4

Petita cova de 6 metres de recorregut a Abella de la Conca

Abella de la Conca • Pallars Jussà6m2m

Small cave with a 6-metre passage in Abella de la Conca, with two entrances that converge inside.

Characteristics

Location

About 300 metres before reaching the village of Abella de la Conca, on the left, a track leads to can Xinco and cal Borrell. Shortly before reaching the private entrance of the latter, a turn-off appears on the right with a sign indicating towards Sant Corneli. You pass right by cal Borrell and continue for about 200 metres more to a left-hand bend with a good esplanade where you can leave the cars. To the NE, a path climbs up until it reaches the track that enters the gorge, and shortly after following it, on the right, a monolith rock appears (Pedra Ficada).

Description

Morphology

It consists of two entrances, one at ground level and the other two metres higher, both converging inside.

Progression

We follow the path for 700 metres where it widens into a track; we must continue climbing for about 100 metres more to observe on our right (hydrographic left) the large entrance of the Espluga del Ponsà no. 2. From here we must follow the cliff towards the south and at a higher level in the middle of the forest, where we will find the entrance of the cavity in a recess of the cliff before reaching the Espluga no. 3.

History

This is the first documented record of this cavity.
