Espluga d'en Ponsà Nº2

Gran Balma de 36 metres de recorregut a Abella de la Conca

Abella de la Conca • Pallars Jussà36m6m

Large 36-metre-long cave in Abella de la Conca, long known and explored by the SIE of the CEA in 1965.

Characteristics

Location

About 300 metres before reaching the village of Abella de la Conca, on the left, a track leads to can Xinco and cal Borrell. Shortly before reaching the private entrance of the latter, a turn-off appears on the right with a sign indicating towards Sant Corneli. You pass right by cal Borrell and continue for about 200 metres more to a left-hand bend with a good esplanade where cars can be left. To the NE, a path climbs up until it reaches the track that enters the gorge and, shortly after following it, on the right, a monolith rock appears (Pedra Ficada). We continue along the path for 700 metres where it widens into a track; we will have to keep climbing for about 100 metres more to observe on our right (hydrographic left) the large mouth of the Espluga del Ponsà no. 2.
