Marganell • Bages26m17m

An ascending crevice in the la Foradada sector (Montserrat), a fissure between the agulles de l'Escorpí and Gallaret, about 18m high, with two levels separated by a large wedged block.

Characteristics

Location

To reach it we will set out on foot from the rest area located above Km.3 of the BP-1103 road from Marganell. We will go up the path that leaves from in front of the aforementioned area and climbs until meeting the Camí de Can Maçana (GR-172) in about 500m. We will take the GR in the direction of Can Maçana for another 550m; at this point, having already passed the turnoff to Coll de Port, we will leave the GR to climb up the bed of a steep ravine to the base of the agulles del Gallaret, Ignasi Capeta and Foradada; the crevice is found in the fissure between the agulles de l'Escorpí and Gallaret.

Description

Morphology

Cavity generated by the displacement between two needles, creating a fissure that reaches approximately 18m in height. Initially the fissure has a steep open-air access ramp up to the point where the roof of the cavity begins; it has two levels separated by a large wedged block.

The lower level beneath the block is made up of a narrow gallery on a steep ramp about 6m long. The upper level has larger dimensions than the lower one and begins as a short gallery. The roof of the area of the final ramp of maximum penetration has a tall, narrow chimney about 14m high.

Progression

It will be necessary to climb about 7m to access the upper level. From the upper level, a second climb will allow us to reach the final ramp of maximum penetration.
