Cova Petita de Ferranes

Petita cova d'uns 5 m. de recorregut al Montsià

Alcanar • Montsià5m0

Small cave about 5 m long in the Montsià, in the Racó dels Ferranes, with a wide entrance and a re-excavated passage that goes in a few metres and remains blocked.

Characteristics

Location

At approximately km 1068 of the N 340, we take the Camí del Llop, which climbs up towards the Montsià. After the Patacó farm buildings, on the left, the track descends to cross the barranc del Llop. Just before the streambed we take a track on the left and follow it to a large esplanade with a lovely farmhouse where we can leave the car (better to go up in a high vehicle).

We are at the Maset de Paletes, in the heart of the Racó dels Ferranes (Ferreries according to the ICC and also known as les Carabassades). We follow the track for a few metres but soon come across a fenced property that blocks our way. We try to skirt it on the right, crossing a small ravine, and we continue climbing towards the lost properties of the upper part that lead up to the ridge. This must be climbed among the malea and wild boar trails. At around the 315 mark we must turn off to the left and find a small clay pit. A little further on is the Cova petita de Ferranes.
