Vilanova de Meià • Noguera36m8m

Cave about 36 metres long in Vilanova de Meià

Characteristics

Location

We will leave Vilanova de Meià along the road heading towards Lluçars and Tòrrec; after 1,670 metres, on the left we will find a track that first climbs alongside the cultivated fields, but then continues climbing through those same fields until reaching the end of them, after covering 1360 metres. We will position ourselves at the end of the field located furthest to the NE; from this point we can observe that on the left hydrographic slope of the barranc de l'Espluga and some 75 metres higher up there is a rocky outcrop; we will head there along a faint path; once at the rocky outcrop we will continue in the direction of the torrent for about sixty metres on a gentle ascent, where we will find the cavity in the middle of a circle of holm oaks.

The floor is occupied by a large quantity of clastic materials. The left-hand gallery is the one that reaches the greatest depth, -7.5 metres.
