A 26-metre-long cave in Vilanova de Meià, with a 5-metre ascending gallery and a stalagmitic step of almost 7 m.

Characteristics

Location

To reach the cave, leave Vilanova de Meià along the L-913 road. After travelling one and a half kilometres, at the height of the font de l'Hedra, we will cross the riu Boix and follow the river skirting the rock cliffs from a very low elevation and then climb up to the cave over the rock. In total it is about 20 minutes on foot from the font. The entrance can be seen from the road. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

The cave is 26 metres long. The entrance is a large vertical fissure. From the entrance one reaches an ascending gallery 5 metres long that leads to a stalagmitic step of almost 7 m vertically, with a narrow passage at the end. The galleries have a maximum width of 2 m and a height of 4.5 m.

A stalagmitic step of almost 7 m vertically.

Progression

From the cave entrance one reaches an ascending gallery 5 metres long. Climbing up this gallery one reaches the upper entrance.

History

The first exploration was carried out in 1964, in which members of the Centre Excursionista Icaria and of the ERE of the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya took part.
