Location

Near km 17, 5 of the road (BP-2121) from Vilafranca to la Llacuna, shortly before reaching the font Trobada and the Mas Rovira, one must descend towards the riu Foix (which at this point is called the riera de Dosrius) and halfway, in a jumble of blocks between a cliff and a monolith, is la Cova de la Riera. On the opposite side of the monolith is this cave.

Description

Morphology

Consisting of a single gallery structured along a NE-SW joint and just over 10 metres in length that ends in an impassable narrows. In the central zone the ceiling rises to about 6 metres and on the left there is a small lateral concavity.

History

Cited by J. Virella in his collection of cavities of the Penedès (1978). In January 1986 it is visited by members of the SIRE – UEC Sants who make a sketch of the whole. However, during Holy Week of 1972, a group from the SIE – CEA surveyed some small caves in the area and one of them, which they call Cova dels Perduts which, by the topography (so far unpublished) and the situation, is almost certainly the same cavity.
