Location

From Calafell we will take the Bellvei road (C-31). Just before crossing the C-32 motorway we will find a roundabout and we will take the turn-off that leads to Mas Romeu. The road soon brings us to another roundabout and then crosses the C-31 road underneath to continue parallel to the motorway and cross it underneath to enter the Urbanització Mas Romeu. We will continue along the main street (Carrer de Ferran Sor). After travelling 700 metres along this street we will find on the left one of the few undeveloped plots. We will park the car in this place. Blue marks on the trees indicate the path to follow which, with a steep climb, will take us directly to the cave.

Description

Morphology

An entrance 1.5 x 3 metres gives access to a single gallery 10 metres long with an average width of 1.5 metres. The floor has been completely emptied of sediments.

History

Known since time immemorial. The cova del Mas Romeu was the subject of archaeological interventions in 1954, published in the Boletín de la Biblioteca-Museo Balaguer, 5ª època Vol. 2, together with the survey, which has gone unnoticed within the speleological sphere.
