Colldejou • Baix Camp10m3m

Small cave with a 10 m passage near the Mola de Colldejou, with a round entrance and a final chamber of 3 x 3 m.

Characteristics

Location

From the TV-3223 road, between the villages of la Torre de Fontaubella and Colldejou, we will reach the coll Roig, where we will park the cars to go and take the GR7-3 towards the Mola de Colldejou. We will go up through Les Tossetes, a wooded area, we will pass an AT line and leave the corral del Batllet on the right; a little higher up, in the area of the pins biguers del Polvorer, the path passes between two ruined corrals. We continue climbing and on our left, and at the edge of the path, we easily find the round entrance of this cavity, after about 15 minutes of walking, and just before starting to climb up the canal del Batllet.

Description

Morphology

A round entrance of about 0.8 metres in diameter leads us to a drop of -1.4 metres that leaves us in a small room 0.4 metres high. We will advance about 4 metres along a narrow gallery with unstable blocks until we reach another small drop that leaves us in the final chamber, of 3 x 3 metres, with a block in the centre, and a small pit on the left that descends jointed between blocks, but which without clearing is not passable for the explorer. The maximum depth in this chamber gives a scant -3 metres.

History

Cavity possibly of recent opening, since despite being next to the GR for the ascent to the Mola de Colldejou, it was not yet documented. The GEB members Josep Cuenca, Xavier Samarra and Anna Ruiz in their usual prospections located it, and later, a large team of explorers (GEB-GIEM/BIOSP-GREC) went on 1 June 2014 to make the corresponding record, taking advantage of the cataloguing and biospeleological research tasks they were doing in the surroundings.
