Description
Morphology
Formed by a first chamber 7.50 metres wide by 3 metres deep and which has two access mouths, one of them covered by a stone wall.
Progression
On the left there is a passage that, at 6 metres of length, becomes impassable.
History
Known since ancient times. The first and few data we knew are those given by members of the GREV – Biblioteca-Museu Víctor Balaguer (Vilanova i la Geltrú) who visited it in 1985.
This cavity could be the one that in the Inventari del Patrimoni Arqueològic de la Generalitat de Catalunya is cited as Cova Gran o Perdigones III. In the same Inventari the Coves Perdigones I i II are also cited, which are said to be located about 150 metres from each other, but which we do not have documented.
In early February 2024 members of the Espeleodijous make a sweep of the area in search of some small inventoried caves that they fail to locate. All at once and by chance, they find the Cova de Perdigones that we had catalogued with precarious location data.
