Location

From the houses of can Ferrer de la Cogullada (TV-2444 road from Rodonyà) a track sets off in a SE direction; at 240 metres we will turn right onto a track that leads to some vineyard fields, we will cross them until reaching the torrent de Pedrafita, we will follow the torrent downstream for about 150 metres, where we will see on the right a small house that serves as a reference point; one must cross a small bridge and a few metres further on, about 8 metres above the left slope, we will find the cave.

Description

Morphology

Once past the small entrance, one enters a very low-roofed passage but which after a few metres opens out into a gallery of more comfortable dimensions for progression; it then takes on an increasingly steep incline until reaching the final chamber, filled by a series of large blocks, beneath which one reaches the point of maximum vertical penetration; towards the NE of this final small chamber, the floor begins to rise to emerge again into the upper gallery.

Progression

The narrow passage has become practically blocked with earth due to a badger or other mammal having made its den and lair there, requiring a complete clearing (Observation made by J. Pallisé and Ramon Sendra in May 2015).

History

Although it is cited by Font i Sagué in 1897, by Faura i Sans in 1909 and by J. Ferraté in 1918, none of them provides data about the cavity.

In 1934 Ll. Porta published in the CEC bulletin the survey and a detailed description of it. The cavity has been known since ancient times by the inhabitants of the area; archaeological remains have been found there.
