Cova de la Falconera

Minsa coveta arran de mar al Cap de Salou

Salou • Tarragonès4m2m

A small sea-edge cove at Cap de Salou, a single gallery among blocks 4 metres long.

Characteristics

Location

At the door of the Salou lighthouse, an urbanised path leads us to a viewpoint situated on the very rock of la Falconera. Exactly below, at sea level, is la Cova. Following the path brings us to the rock of les Ànimes, from where it is very easy to reach it.

Description

Morphology

A small spring greatly affected by the -caused- collapse of part of the rock of la Falconera. A single gallery among blocks, ascending and 4 metres long.

History

Certainly known since remote times. We have not found any bibliographic reference; we only knew of its existence from a brief citation by David N. Brison (1989). Explored by the ERE – CEC in January 2015.

A little further to the NE should be found the Cova de la Farola, cited without any data by Joan Ferraté (1918), but for the moment we have no data.
