Description

Morphology

Small shelter 5 metres deep, 4 high and 11 wide, with a flat floor except at the two ends of the concavity where it has a slight upward slope.

Other details

Excavated in Paleocene-Eocene breccias and conglomerates. It is of some geological interest as it lies at the unconformable contact of the Paleozoic basement (Cambrian dolomitic marbles, which form the floor of the cavity) and the sedimentary materials of the Paleogene.

History

Although the cave must have always been known, we have not found any speleological reference to it, until a member of the ERE – CEC visited it on 29 April 2013 during a practice outing with students from the Faculty of Geology of the UAB.
