Description
Morphology
The cave is formed by a single gallery that opens into a widening. The floor is covered by the beach sand that the water drags in during storms.
The cavity was excavated by the action of the waves on a joint developed in hornfels (sandstones subjected to contact metamorphism).
Other details
At the back of the cave, someone has installed a kind of cane structure that appears to be the skeleton of a provisional camping tent.
History
Although the cave must have always been known, we have found no speleological reference to it, until a member of the ERE – CEC visited it on 29 April 2013 during a practice outing with students from the Faculty of Geology of the UAB.
