Cova Alçada

Petita cova d'11 metres de recorregut al Coll d'Ases (Gallifa)

Gallifa • Vallès Occidental11m3m

Small cave with a route of 11 metres at Coll d'Ases (Gallifa), formed by a single gallery with a steep slope.

Characteristics

Location

The cave is located at Coll d'Ases (Gallifa). From Castellterçol we will follow the BV-1245 road towards Granera; after kilometre 2 we will turn left onto the paved track towards Coll d'Ases and Gallifa. After covering about 7 kilometres we will reach Coll d'Ases; on the right-hand side and right next to the traffic signs a path sets off, which we will follow until we find an iron pole where the path divides. We will continue to the left, which will take us to the base of the cliff where we will find some cairns; shortly afterwards we will find the first of the caves a little more than 250 metres from Coll d'Ases. A few metres further on we will find the first of the entrances, a little further on, almost touching the rock shelter, we will find the cavity hanging a couple of metres above on the crag.

Description

Morphology

It is formed by a single gallery with a route of 11 metres and about 4 metres in height with a steep slope.

History

Located by members of the SIS del CE Terrassa after the fire of the year 2003, in November 2005 Jordi Guillemot surveyed them and named them “Complex de les Falgueres” after the toponym that appears on a nearby hill and which on the Editorial Alpina map is georeferenced as Coll de les Falgueres, but on the current ICGC map this toponym does not appear anywhere.

This group of cavities is known in hiking circles as Coves de Coll d'Ases, and even the Matagalls-Montserrat route passes just below them.
