Characteristics

Location

From Castellterçol we will follow the BV-1245 road towards Granera; after kilometre 2 we will turn left onto the paved track towards the Coll d'Ases and Gallifa. After about 7 kilometres we will reach the Coll d'Ases; on the right-hand side and next to the traffic signs a path starts, which we will follow until we find an iron pole where the path splits. We will keep to the left, which will take us to the base of the cliff where we will find some cairns; shortly afterwards we will find the first of the caves a little more than 250 metres from the Coll d'Ases, and a few metres further on we will find the shelter.

Description

Morphology

Shelter 12 metres wide, 5.18 metres deep and 1.74 metres high. In the ceiling there are two narrow passages; through the one closer to the entrance one reaches an upper conduit about 7 metres long. The total length of the cavity is 14.8 metres and the vertical extent is +6.5 metres.

Other details

This group of cavities is known among hikers as the Coves de Coll d'Ases; the Matagalls-Montserrat route even passes just below them.

History

Located by members of the SIS of the CE Terrassa after the fire of 2003. In November 2005 Jordi Guillemot surveyed them and named them “Complex de les Falgueres” after the toponym that appears on a nearby hill and which on the Editorial Alpina map is georeferenced as Coll de les Falgueres, but on the current ICGC map this toponym does not appear anywhere.
