Balma d'en Coloms

Balma de 13 metres de recorregut a Abella de la Conca

Abella de la Conca • Pallars Jussà13m2m

A 13-metre-long cave in Abella de la Conca, with an entrance of about 22x7 metres and a depth of 13.5 metres.

Characteristics

Location

About 300 metres before reaching the village of Abella de la Conca, on the left, a track leads to can Xinco and cal Borrell. Shortly before reaching the private entrance of the latter, a turn-off appears on the right with a sign indicating towards Sant Corneli. You pass close by cal Borrell and continue for about 200 metres more until a left-hand bend with a good esplanade where cars can be left. To the NE, a path climbs up until reaching the track that penetrates the gorge and, shortly after following it, on the right, a monolith rock appears (Pedra Ficada). L'Espluga d'en Coloms is located just below the cliff where we are, within the Barranc de Monteguida.

Description

Morphology

Entrance of about 22x7 metres and 13.5 metres deep, with the floor on a gentle slope.

Progression

From this point you must begin to climb, almost without a path, in the direction of the upper cliff where, on the left of the torrent (hydrographic right), a major landslide can be seen, relatively recent, and which has covered a good part of the slope with enormous blocks. You must keep climbing until reaching the upper flats, until reaching a cliff from where we will make out opposite, on the other side of the valley, L'Espluga de l'Olivé.

History

Known forever by the local people. Until now there was no reference of it having been explored.
