Location

We do not know the exact location of the cavity. The original record only says that it is in the area of the Mas del Puntaire. On the ICGC map, a mas del Puntaire and a cova del Puntaire are marked in the area (we do not know it, or perhaps it could be the same cavity), near which we have provisionally placed the cavity.

Prospecting in the area is very difficult due to the abundant vegetation covering the relief, and movement is only possible along the most usual paths. In addition, most of the masos are abandoned, and those that are preserved have been largely bought or rented by outsiders who do not know the territory.

The coordinates only indicate the area where we think the cavity should be found.

Description

Morphology

Pit 19 m deep. An 8 metre shaft with subcircular plan and bell-shaped at its S end; to the NE it communicates with a collapse shaft occupied by clastic products, by which the point of maximum depth is reached.

History

According to old records of the GES – CMB, N. Llopis Lladó explored around 1934 or 1935 a series of cavities in this southern area of the municipality of Tivissa. Of all of them, only the one he called Avenc del Racó de Reboig has been located (later catalogued as Avenc del Racó d'en Juny). The location of all these cavities is very imprecise and in some cases nonexistent. Most references speak of the Mas Pellisé, but neither in the old cartography nor in the most modern do we find references to this mas.
