Location

On the left slope of the tributary ravine of the barranc de Millers, whose headwaters are at the coll Roig. Access can be gained via the track that runs from the Mascar (Mont Caro) towards Fredes (Castelló), passing by Cova Avellanes, Carlares and the masos de Millers; once past these, on the right a path (GR-8) branches off and climbs the ridge between the coll de Navic and the coll Roig and approaches the Clot de Maçana.

Description

Morphology

Via a pit of about 16 metres one descends through the very middle of a magnificent chamber about 60 metres long by about 20 wide and with an approximate volume of about 18000 m³. Its floor is entirely occupied by large blocks and the ground has an inclination of about 32º in a SW direction.

Hydrology

From the highest point of the chamber a small watercourse flows and disappears among the blocks at the lowest point.

Progression

Before reaching the lowest point of the chamber, a passage between blocks leads to a side gallery where the deepest point is reached.

History

Discovered and explored by members of the Espeleo Club Tortosa in the first days of January 1983 following the directions of the then guard of Carlares.

In November 2010 members of the EC Tortosa made a new survey which, for the time being, remains unpublished.
