Characteristics

Location

From Mont-ral we will head W; once past the esplanade at the exit of the village, we find a crossroads. We will leave the path that climbs to La Foradada and the Pla de l'Avenc, and continue along the path heading NW. Once we have covered 75 metres, a path emerges from the left which we will follow; this path is marked from time to time with cairns. We will come to a first fork where we continue to the right; a little further on we find a small path on the left marked with cairns, we must follow them, as this path passes along the base of the cliff of the Serrat de l'Avenc, where the climbing walls and the gully containing the cavity are found. We will reach a point where we must climb a steep slope formed by an accumulation of blocks; when we descend on the other side the small path passes almost touching the wall. At this point we must begin the ascent up the wall, as the entrance is about 7 metres above the base and is not visible until you reach it.

Description

Morphology

Once past the entrance we find a small step, after which a ramp leads us to a pit of -5 metres. We continue descending until the gallery that originates is completely blocked; at this point the depth is 13.50 metres. Positioned at the base of the entrance pit, we must climb up a joint to access a straight gallery with a small step and a descending ramp that places us at the end of the cavity. The total depth is 21 metres, (-16.50/+4.50), while the length is 55 metres.

Progression

Positioned at the base of the entrance pit, we must climb up a joint to access a straight gallery with a small step and a descending ramp that places us at the end of the cavity.

History

Explored in 1978 by the SIEP of the Centre Excursionista Poblet. On 3 June 1979 members of the same group, during an exploration, climbed a joint located at the base of the entrance pit, which allowed them to continue along an upper gallery that extended the length and depth of the cavity.
