Description
Morphology
The entrance, 2.5 by 1 metres, gives way to a 7-metre shaft that is very well eroded. From here several directions can be taken. Climbing a little towards the W, one follows a low gallery that leads to a small chamber from which two branches set off that end after a few metres; in this small chamber there is a hole in the floor that connects with other crawls. Returning to the base of the entrance shaft, one can follow a steep ramp towards the SW, which leads to the top of a shaft. At one end, before descending it, one can follow a gallery that opens into a small chamber. Before that, however, there is a crawl that climbs towards the small chamber of the western galleries. If we descend the shaft we will come out in a large chamber 9 by 6 metres. This can also be reached from the base of the entrance shaft, towards the E, through a crouching passage to a chamber where we find another shaft that opens at the other end of the lower chamber. From here several small passages can be followed and at their W end it will be necessary to progress crawling for a few metres until an enlargement is found. One continues, crouching again, until a large block interrupts the way. At the opposite end we find a small passage a few metres long that ends full of gravel. There is also a third hole on the S side of the chamber; this one, very narrow, connects to a small chamber from which several very narrow passages of little length set off.
History
The first references we have to this pit are given in the guide to the map “Sant Llorenç del Munt – Serra de l'Obac” by Editorial Alpina (1972 edition), where it is recorded as a cavity only 9 metres deep. We do not know who its discoverers were, but we suspect they were members of some group from Sabadell, towards the end of the 1960s.
In 1976, members of SIS – CET visited the cavity and, by clearing a narrow passage at the base of the entrance shaft, managed to reach the final chamber and make a first survey of the pit.
Around 1985, José A. Pérez of GES – CM Terrassa, by means of a stretched passage in a corner of the base of the entrance shaft, discovered a new chamber and the side shaft that also connects with the final chamber. Together with his colleagues from GES and with the collaboration of members of SIS, they cleared some points in the terminal zone of the pit.
