The Granite group comprises 129 cavities, of which 126 are caves and 3 are pits. Together they total 3,068 m of length and reach a maximum depth of 27 m. The lithology corresponds to an intrusive igneous rock, hard and crystalline, that does not dissolve; its cavities are granite caves formed by erosion and the displacement of blocks (block caves and tafoni).
Among the longest cavities are the Cova Des Bergantí, at 224 m, in Tossa de Mar (Selva), known since time immemorial and fully explored in the summer of 1979; the Cova d'en Gispert, at 174 m, known since time immemorial and explored speleologically in 1952; the Cova de Punta Pola, at 134 m, also in Tossa de Mar (Selva); the Cova de Sa Pedra Negra, at 86 m, in Tossa de Mar (Selva); and the Cova d'Aigua Xelida, at 73 m, in Palafrugell.
As for depth, the deepest cavity is Sa Roncadora, at 27 m, in Palafrugell, followed by the Clòt Inferior Dera Cometa de Montoliu, a small pit of 16 m in the Vall d'Aran discovered on 31 October 1977 and surveyed on 30 August 1978, and the Cova de la Punta de N'estella, at 15 m, in Palafrugell.
