Descrizione
Morfologia
The Cova del Dofí (Túnel II de Port Salvi) is the best known and most accessible. It consists of a single gallery 20 metres long, with openings at both ends.
In the same area is the so-called Cova del Carretó or Túnel I de Port Salvi. A somewhat narrow entrance (depth -26) leads to a gallery 14 metres long with a sandy bottom; the exit is at depth -25.
There is also a third cave, the Túnel III de Port Salvi, whose length is unknown, although it appears not to exceed that of the previous ones.
Idrologia
The sandy bottom of the gallery of the Cova del Carretó quickly clouds the water.
Progressione
The traverse of the Cova del Dofí can be done comfortably and almost without the need for artificial light.
Storia
Known for years by divers who visit this area of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The Cova del Dofí owes its name to a figure of this cetacean at the eastern opening. The Cova del Carretó owes its name to a wheelbarrow that was at its entrance for many years.
