Località

The cave is located in the Àssua valley (Pallars Sobirà). It is reached via the road from Sort to Llessui (LV-5223); once past the village of Sorre, at the next bend a turn-off leads towards Caregue. Shortly after its start is the chapel of Santa Anna. From here a track leaves to the left, following the right slope of the Rialbo and descending to the point where it meets the Baresti river, to reach the pont de l'Obaga de Sorre. From the same valley one must begin to climb and ascend about 400 metres of elevation gain along the western side of the ridge that descends from the Bony d'Arquer (Serrat d'Arquer or de Caregue) until reaching the cave. Descrizione

Morfologia

Once the 3-metre vertical drop is overcome and the entrance is reached, one enters an elongated chamber oriented N-S with a very steeply inclined floor covered in dust. This chamber, at its innermost part, connects to a gallery 7 metres long by 2 metres average height that gradually narrows towards its end. The floor of the gallery is practically occupied by blocks of different dimensions.

Concrezioni

There is not the slightest sign of a reconstruction process anywhere in the cavity.

Altri dettagli

Its origin seems to be due to the erosion or dissolution of a stretch of limestone, now completely gone, within the package of schists predominant in the area.

Storia

The only record of this cavity is the result of the exploration carried out by members of GES-CMB in the summer of 1974.
